Eight games was all it took to earn a spot in the Atlantic Conference for Hoops and Read Basketball Club. However, Hoops and Read Basketball needed one more victory to prove a point as the best team in the National Division I Championship.

Though Hoops & Read earned a place in the Atlantic Conference of the Premier League after winning eight straight games, the team had one final game to win the Division I Championship in a battle between two undefeated teams.

Hoops and Read were neither complacent nor relenting as they handed the Civil Defenders a 82-69 defeat to finish the season undefeated on a nine-game winning streak. The Civil Defenders came in second place on an 8-1 record.

The Civil Defenders will replace the Nigeria Immigration in the Savannah Conference of the Premier League, while Hoops and Read will occupy one of the three vacant slots in the Atlantic Conference created by Lagos Islanders, Dodan Warriors, and Union Bank after the trio exited the Premier League last season. The Premier League Board, comprising representatives from the Nigeria Basketball Federation and DStv Nigeria, will convene a meeting to decide on how to fill up the remaining two vacancies in the Atlantic Conference.
