Forward, DeMarre Carroll, led the Nets in scoring with a game-high 24 points, in addition to six rebounds, in the team’s first win on a three-game road trip. Joe Harris was the only other starter who scored in double digits with 13 points, while Trevor Booker provided 16 points from the bench.
Spencer Dinwiddie, who started at point guard in place of the injured D’Angelo Russell, led in the assist category with seven dimes, while chipping nine points in 33 minutes of action.
The Memphis Grizzlies’ losing streak increased to eight in the absence of Mike Conley who has been ruled out indefinitely following an injury to his Achilles tendon.Russell who underwent an arthroscopic knee surgery provided leadership and support as he watched from the sidelines in his sixth missed game since injuring his knee in Utah. Prior to the injury, Russell was averaging 21 points, 5.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds in less than 28 minutes per game. There is no specific timetable on when he is expected back on the court but his contribution from the sidelines is expected to provide positive impact for the rest of the team.
“Be engaged with the group. I think any of our guys that are out, whether it’s Jarrett Allen, D’Angelo Russell, Jeremy Lin, we like to keep those guys engaged,” said Kenny Atkinson, Nets head coach.
The Nets have two more games on the road against the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks before returning to the Barclay’s Centre in Brooklyn.
