Nigeria’s Michael Umeh was the star in Italian SerieA on Monday night as he led the way for Virtus Bologna in the championship game played Monday, June 19 against Alma Trieste.
Umeh scored 29 points (21 of them from behind the 3-point arc) to lead Virtus Bologna to a 72-66 victory and a league title.
The 32-year-old Olympian, who averaged 16.8 points and 2.4 assists while shooting a good 50.8% from the field during the season, also won himself the finals Most Valuable Player Award for his stellar performance.
Umeh played all 43 games of the season, averaging 16.8 points 3.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 30 regular season games. He also led his team to an impressive 12-2 post-season record en-route to the title.
