Dolphins, First Bank start season on winning note

First Bank Basketball Club began the 2017 Zenith Women’s Basketball League in a typical winning fashion, rolling over the Nasarawa Amazons 89-22 at the indoor arena of the Abuja National Stadium (Package B) on April 10, 2017.

The defending champions are the favourites for the 12th edition of the women’s basketball league, boasting team that includes players for the Nigerian national team.

Dolphins also had an easy ride in their season opener, by handing a 97-60 blowout defeat to the Abuja-based FCT Angels.

IGP Queens were, by far, the biggest winner of the day in margin as they held the Ekiti Angels to a meagre 19 points the entire game, while they poured 100 points into their opponent’s basket.

The first phase of the women’s league is being hosted in Abuja. Second phase of the league is yet to be announced.
