Abubakar Usman finished the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Qualifiers for Zone3 on a sterling note.
The veteran guard for the Kano Pillars Basketball Organization was awarded the Most Valuable Player upon his impressive performance in the five games the team played, winning all easily.
Usman finished with averages of 22 ppg and 3.8 apg and was the tournament’s highest scorer with 110 points, adding 19 total assists in his efforts. 63 of his 110 points came behind the three-point arc, which also earned him the tournament’s best three-point shooter with a total 21 attempts converted from behind the arc.
The 6’3 combo guard was selected into the All-Tournament Team as a result of his performance for the Pillars, which propelled the team to another trip for the continental championship to be held in Cairo, Egypt from 8 to 17 of December 2016.
